NO MORE. Joyful Heart Foundation

Joyful Heart Foundation

"My work with the Joyful Heart Foundation has brought me into contact with so many remarkable people over the years, and they continue to reinforce that profound lesson. Now we have an opportunity to apply that lesson together, and embrace the promise of change."
-Mariska Hargitay (Founder and President of JHF)

The Joyful Heart Foundation (JHF) is a 100% privately funded organization aimed to help the victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse, and child abuse/neglect-as well as, spread awareness on these topics. JHF was started by Law and Order: Special Victim's Unit's Mariska Hargitay after receiving tons of heartbreaking fanmail from people everywhere telling their stories. Mariska founded JHF in Kona in 2004 because of her deep connection and love she feels for Hawaii, where she experienced her own heart awakening, with the intention of helping the survivors of sexual assault heal and reclaim the joy in their lives.

JHF's mission is to heal, educate, and empower the victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and child abuse, and shed the light into the darkness that surrounds these topics. They carry out this mission in three ways: Healing & Wellness, Education & Awareness, and Policy & Advocacy.

Since their inception in 2004, JHF has raised over $15 million to support their programs and directly served nearly 14,000 individuals. They have connected with over 2 million individuals through their website and social media efforts, garnering more than 5 million page views and over 73,000 hours of interaction with their content. They have secured more than one billion impressions in digital and print media about the issues. And they've effected policy changes in jurisdictions from New York to California. I encourage you to learn more about their reach here.
